Thanks for your law enforcement service. I've really become appreciative of what you all have to go through on a daily basis recently. I have always respected Police, Fire Fighters, etc., but now even more so. Which career do you like better?

You considered Az for the warmer weather? Apparently everyone else in the country has! It is insane to see how many homes are being built here in the Valley of the Sun. Non stop construction here
Thanks. I really enjoyed law enforcement, but am glad I'm out of it now. I have more weekends and holidays off now, and no more third shifts...lol. Policing is a young person's job in my opinion and it was a great career. This job is completely different and I enjoy many aspects of it as well.

I haven't spent much time in AZ, nor do I know much about living there. I tried talking the wife into getting a nice 5th wheel and pickup to live in for 3 to 5 years so we could really spend some times in different areas before settling down, but she said no way...lol.

Nice! So, approximately how restaurants did you have to service? This is very interesting to me being that you had an exclusive to such a big name chain
Started with one store, did work for Chilli's in Ann Arbor and that manager went to work for Outback. Just continued to pick up stores one at a time and would only pick up the store if they signed on for preventative maintenance once a month. Got to 12 stores and that was more than enough. Serviced Wendy's, Taco Bell, McDonalds, chilli's and several local restaurants. Another money maker was Great Lakes Steel on Zug Island, did work for the railroad that serviced the plant. The 100% make up air direct fired furnaces were big enough to stand up inside.

Florida is too flat. I have to see mountains.
I agree. Florida doesn't do much for me. My daughter went with me when I went to Raptor Assault, and we did a whirlwind tour that included Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Moab, and Colorado. We took my Raptor on some of the trails I did at Raptor Assault in Utah, took a private (nobody else booked) guided side by side tour in Moab, rented a Jeep Wrangler for 24 hrs in Ouray, CO and then took one of the trails again in my Raptor once I knew it was safe...lol. Loved the mountains and the desert type terrain. The wife likes beaches and palm trees...lol.

Retired after 37 years with the power company, then consulted for a few years, then relocated to my present location.

I do some business consulting on the side for large construction & engineering companies, I am the Treasurer for the community HOA, and I am also the tech fixer for our small community here.

Retirement is great. You just need to keep busy but the beauty of being retired is that you can be busy with tasks of your choice, not those assigned by the corporate bosses.

Not at all , very expensive . We build the high end customs and most of our home start above 1.5 million . It’s amazing how many young people we build for .

I retired from my 37-year career in the electric utility industry in 2017.

I spent a couple more years as a consultant on large high-tech construction projects then decided I was done.

But I keep busy doing things for my community and neighbors. From being the tech guy to acting as Treasurer for our small HOA I'm doing things I want to do and, for the most part doing them when I want to, not as directed by some clueless professional corporate manager.

I've been told that retirement is like having six Saturdays & one Sunday each and every week. I'm beginning to buy into that.

Retired from government work in 2010 at age 54 and have freelanced since. Best of both worlds. 13 years and counting collecting a nice pension. My dad told me when I was a kid, work for the govt. you won’t get rich, but you’ll have pension and benefits, and he was so right.
